Abstract
•We analysed the responses of co-occurring Quercus ilex and Pinus halepensis to rainfall exclusion.•Both species exhibited a decrease in sap velocity.•Native embolism was similar between treatment.•Primary growth and canopy foliage decreased for both species under rainfall exclusion.
