Hybrid dual laser processing for improved quality of inclined up-facing surfaces in laser powder bed fusion of metals

•In situ remelting of inclined surfaces can significantly improve their quality.•Powder removal by shock waves does not induce major microstructural defects.•This processing leads to an equal quality on horizontal and inclined surfaces.•Microhardness alterations by remelting can be removed by heat treatment.
