摘要
•Hydrodeoxygenation of tricaprylin and valeric acid were studied over alumina-supported Pd catalysts.•Pd/phosphatized γ-Al2O3 was a much better HDO catalyst than Pd/γ-Al2O3.•Carboxylates were found to be HDO surface intermediates.•Phosphatization eliminated Al⊕–  O⊝ surface pair sites and enhanced formation of reactive bidentate carboxylates.•HDO proceeded via C-O bond hydrogenolysis and hydrodeoxygenation of aldehyde intermediate.
