Abstract
This work, of a qualitative nature, aims to analyze the process of elaboration and validation of a Thematic Unit (TU) from the perspective of Science, Technology and Society (STS) on thermochemistry contents based on the coal mining. For that, initially the instrument proposed by Silva and Marcondes (2015) was used to detail the analysis of the TU. In addition, the TU was evaluated by High School Chemistry teachers and researchers in the area of Chemistry Teaching in pursuance of checking conceptual adequacy and convergences to the STS approach. The results show that the set of TU activities goes along with the principles of the STS perspective. Thus, may favor students' reflection on the environmental and social impacts of mining and the production of electric energy through non-renewable sources.
