Micro-Raman Domain Imaging In Calcium Orthovanadate Single Crystals

It was demonstrated that confocal Raman microscopy (CRM) could be used for domain imaging in the calcium orthovanadate Ca-3(VO4)(2) single crystals. The domain contrast could be achieved using noticeable intensity variations of the spectral band located near 854 cm(-1) occurring due to the influence of depolarization field produced by charged domain walls. The revealed high value of the domain wall tilt from the polar direction led to the strong electric field and blurring of the domain wall image due to the electrooptic effect. The developed method can be used for detail analysis of the domain structure in Ca-3(VO4)(2) crystals.
