Abstract
High penetration of renewable energy such as wind and photovoltaic (PV) power have brought huge challenge to the safe and stable operation for regional power system. An analytical framework for output characteristics of renewable energy is proposed in this article. Based on historically measured output data, the output characteristics of the wind farms and PV plants in Shaanxi Province is comprehensively analyzed and summarized, including the yearly characteristics, daily characteristics, fluctuation characteristics, geographical dispersion and complementarity of wind and PV power. By analyzing collected output data of several wind farms and PV plants, this paper aims to deduce the whole output characteristics of renewable energy in Shaanxi. By doing this, this paper could provide certain references for further research of wind and PV power in Shaanxi, such as offering theoretical direction on operation optimization and long-term power system planning.
