Performance Assessment Of Stand Alone Bifacial Solar Panel Under Real Time Conditions

Bifacial photovoltaic (PV) is a promising renewable energy technology that can increase the power density by harvesting both incident and albedo radiation. Integration of these resources into the power grid can offer benefits including improved energy efficiency and power continuity. This paper examines the performance of bifacial solar panels in the real-time climate of Qatar under winter and summer. The operating conditions such as ambient temperature, albedo and soiling have been studied for bifacial PV cells. Average percentage improvement for energy yield was found to be 4.3% by changing albedo whereas 29.0% performance enhancement was observed by cleaning the panel daily.
