Effect Of Silver Nanoparticles Toward Dna Via Formation Of Reactive Oxygen Species
PROCEEDINGS OF INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE MODERN ELECTROCHEMICAL METHODS XXXIX(2019)
Abstract
Nowadays, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are commonly utilized materials in medicine, cosmetic or clothing industry due to their antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. However, their potential activity accompanied with environmental and health risks has been poorly revealed. The oxidation stress of biomolecules induced by AgNPs via the formation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in considered as the main mechanism of their toxicity. The effective evaluation of oxidative damage to DNA represents interesting matter of these days. For this reason, a rapid and reliable detection of DNA degradation was performed using electrochemical biosensing approaches.
