Abstract
This paper studies the use of wood-saving stoves in Santana Ana Nichi and San Agustin Mextepec. Information collected from a sample of homes in 2011 shows that the population's indigenous background, lack of social development and the ability to satisfy their energy needs in times of contingency, together with problems in the management, operation and monitoring of projects, account for the low levels of local technological development; the difficulty of achieving the goals of a national strategy, the success of which, in terms of the reduction of poverty, inland pollution and adaptation to climate change, is yet to be evaluated.
