摘要
The evaluation of an adnexal mass is a common task, further processing depends largely on the interpretation of the image data. So that by using a practical approach and with the knowledge of the echographic patterns showing uterine diseases annexes, the radiologist physician is more prepared to draw reasoned conclusions and make recommendations. The ovary develops both benign (80%) and malignant tumors (20%). The imaging evaluation of ovarian masses include: Ultrasound, tomography, resonance and PET-CT, in some cases and less often currently the barium enema and excretory urography are performed to evaluate involucres or extension to adjacent organs. Ultrasound is the initial imaging modality for evaluating the pathological conditions of the ovary, primarily for its low cost, its availability and the absence of radiation, allowing to confirm the presence of an adnexal mass, determine the origin, characterize and document related abnormalities such as obstructive uropathy, ascites and hepatic metastasis. The characterizing the mass helps limit the diagnostic possibilities although some sonographics tumors have nonspecific appearance.A descriptive retrospective study was performed in the Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia of all patients admitted with a diagnosis of adnexal mass in study. All patients underwent pelvic or transvaginal ultrasound. Injuries in relation to location, wall thickness, and wall characteristics, presence of septa, vegetation, echogenicity and associated findings were characterized as ascites and implant. Likewise the patients according to age, pre or postmenopausal hormonal status and serum level of Ca-125 were characterized. Ultrasound findings were compared with histopathologic results subsequent to surgery.
