Abstract
•Highly Ce3+-doped Gd3(GaFe)5O12 crystals have great θF and excellent magneto-optical performance.•Ce,Ga:GIG crystals will be one of core functional materials in the field of optical communication.•Incongruent-melting compounds can be successfully grown by improved EFG method.•Not only necessary annealing but also Ca2+ doping can greatly improve the optical transmittance.
