摘要
Serological tests, especially ELISA, using glycoproteins purified by preparative isoelectric focusing and recombinant antigens are highly reliable for screening and identification of infected persons and domestic animals, mainly pigs and dogs. Seroepidemiological survey in Papua (= Irian Jaya), Indonesia has revealed that the majority of local people and pigs are infected with T. solium cysticerci in Jayawijaya District. Exceptionally high endemicity of T. solium cysticercosis in Papua is based on the life style of the local people. Incidence of taeniasis is also exceptionally high. Detection of copro-antigens is highly reliable for confirmation of ongoing infections.
