Abstract
•A novel green inhibitor of β-cyclodextrin modified xanthan gum was synthesized.•The corrosion inhibition effect of β-CD-XG was superior to XG.•β-CD-XG represented stable anti-corrosion effect in a certain temperature range.•Grafted polymer was superior to adsorb on the metal surface to suppress corrosion.
