Influence of module on measurement uncertainty of gear tooth profile deviation on gear measuring center

To improve the efficiency and accuracy of measurement uncertainty evaluation, the authors use the digital twin of a gear measuring center (DTGMC) technique, use the module of the gear parameters as a factor for measurement uncertainty evaluation, and establish the measurement uncertainty model of the gear tooth profile on the gear measuring center (GMC) coupling geometric errors with installation error. Moreover, simulations of the DTGMC and experiments are implemented to investigate the influence of the module on the measurement uncertainty of the tooth profile deviation with the generating method. The results share good consistency. Specifically, as the module increases, the measurement uncertainty of the tooth profile deviation first increases and then decreases, and the difference of the measurement uncertainty caused by the module is up to 67%, This provides the basis for more comprehensive quality acceptance of the workpiece and a reliable case study for the application of the DTGMC.
