Abstract
In this paper we report on the first year of SRG/eROSITA operations at L2 in the context of instrumental background: how do we monitor and evaluate the background, and what has been and will have yet to be learned. The main results discussed here are the time lag of about 6 - 7 months of eROSITA-detected rate of minimum ionizing particles (MIPs) relative to the solar cycle minimum (between #24 and #25), an about 27 day variability in the MIP rate, a discussion about the spatial distribution of the registered background (especially a gradient along read-out direction), and a discussion about a somewhat higher background than expected together with an associated assessment study.
