lDesigned methods of two kinds of honeycombs with curved cell walls are proposed.lThe deformation mechanism is obtained by compression experiments and FEM method.lThe mechanical properties of honeycombs are significantly enhanced.lGradient can significantly improve the energy absorption performance of honeycombs.
