EVALUATION OF SPATIAL FORM OF HISTORIC TOWNS IN MOUNTAINOUS AREAS: A CASE STUDY OF QINBA MOUNTAINOUS AREA IN CHINA

In China, exploring ways and measures to protect and inherit the regional characteristics, original styles, aborigine perception, and spatial features of historic towns have become a new and important research topic for the field scholars. This paper took the historic towns in the Qinba mountainous areas in China as the research objects, by comprehensively employing research methods such as system coupling analysis, Kano model, AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process), and entropy method, it proposed a novel Evaluation Index System (EIS) for the spatial form of historic towns. The study extracted spatial feature elements of historic towns in Qinba mountainous areas and adopted the comprehensive weight method to construct the new EIS. Then, the proposed EIS was applied to the evaluation of an example subject, the Shuhe Town. The research proved that the proposed EIS can fully express and process the limited evaluation information, and the new EIS supplemented content such as the attractiveness of folk culture, and the spatial satisfaction to the spatial form evaluation of historic towns in special regions.
