Abstract
Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, it was possible to see on a global scale the outbreak of protest movements, originating from an engaged youth, whose circulation of references, actors and repertoires was reinterpreted according to the different national contexts, thus opening different possibilities of action for student movements, namely, among others: the revolutionary wars of national liberation; the rejection of traditional politics; the defense of universities; the inclusion of counter-cultural values and the emergence of new social movements. Based on the historiographic production on the theme and using documents of various natures, the article reflects on the periodization of the "68s" of the Brazilian student movement, analyzing it from its event, which made it possible to broaden the repertoire of contestation against the military dictatorship, showing how these different influences appear in the Brazilian case through its ruptures and continuities.
