摘要
This study was conducted to evaluate the screening capacity of nine methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)-selective media for methicillin-resistant S. pseudintermedius (MRSP). We used 10 high-level oxacillin-resistant MRSP (HLR-MRSP), 10 low-level oxacillin-resistant MRSP (LLR-MRSP), and 20 methicillin-susceptible S. pseudintermedius (MSSP) strains isolated from canine pyoderma. All of the nine media suppressed the growth of all MSSP strains for 48 hr incubation. The detection sensitivity of HLR-MRSP was 90-100% (24 hr) and 100% (48 hr) in all media. Furthermore, the detection sensitivity of LLR-MRSP was 100% (24 and 48 hr) in MRSA Screen Agar (MSA), and 0-60% (24 hr) and 80-100% (48 hr) in the other media. Our findings indicate that MSA might be useful to rapidly screen both HLR-MRSP and LLR-MRSP.
