Siloxane-Modified, Silica-Based Lonogel As A Pseudosolid Electrolyte For Sodium-Ion Batteries

We report the synthesis of a Na-ion-conducting ionogel (IG) electrolyte using a one-pot, siloxane-modified sol-gel approach. The resulting pseudosolid electrolyte provides a nonflammable alternative to traditional carbonate liquids and demonstrates a wide stability window (5 V) as well as a high room-temperature ionic conductivity (similar to 1 mS cm(-1)). The IG exhibits excellent interfacial properties in contact with both negative and positive Na+ electrodes, enabling the operation of a solid-state sodium-ion battery.
