Abstract
An in-situ test for the foundation settlement and the geogrid deformation within geosynthetic-reinforced and pile-supported embankments was performed in Tianjin-Qinhuangdao passenger special line. The lateral foundation settlement, longitudinal foundation settlement and vertical foundation settlement were investigated to figure out rules of the foundation settlement with filling the embankment. The lateral geogrids and longitudinal geogrids were investigated to figure out rules of geogrid deformation. The results indicate that the foundation settlement increases greatly during filling the embankment and the foundation settlement mainly generates in the upper layer soil. The shape of lateral foundation settlement curve is close to the parabolic. In the transition zone, the closer distance from culvert, the smaller the settlement. In addition, the shape of the geogrid after deformation is a pan and the deformation of longitudinal geogrids is larger than that of lateral geogirds.
