摘要
The Greater San Miguel de Tucuman area, capital of the Northwestern Region of the Argentine Republic, has experienced a remarkable increase in population since 1991. This population is far from homogeneous in terms of levels of education, age structure or characteristics of their dwellings, among others; the increase of the housing stock has taken place between two extremes: gated communities and neighbourhoods of popular habitat, often with problems of land rights. In this context, and trough a factorial analysis applied to 13 census variables corresponding to 1991, 2001 and 2010 Population Censuses, we show how the underlying causes of the spatial distribution of the population, characterized from these variables, have been maintained very stable during the period studied, while its spatial distribution reflects a process of progressive polarization and unresolved housing problems.
