Certain Medical Devices Require More Attention On Design And Usability

The medical devices market is continuously growing in Turkey; however, 85% of the market depends on import trade. Although there are Turkish brands competing in the market, it is argued that there is a prejudice against these products. It was hypothesised that this prejudice originate from the design and usability shortcomings of 'made in Turkey' branded medical devices. This paper summarises and discusses the results of an interview study with 12 medical device retailers located in Istanbul, in an effort to understand their point of view regarding the general image of 'made in Turkey' branded medical devices in terms of their design and usability.
