Optical sensor based on liquid crystals for detecting the amino acids concentration in aqueous solutions

In the article, we have studied the influence of amino acids in aqueous solutions on the spectral characteristics of cholesteric-nematic mixtures. We used cholesterol-nematic mixtures (BLO62 + 5CB) as an active element of optical sensors for the detection of amino acids (serine, l-histidine, valine) in aqueous solutions. It enabled to use this active medium for amino acid optical sensors.
