Cold Stress Signaling And Tolerance In Rice

Rice is very sensitive to cold stress during the whole growth seasons. As a monocot model plant, molecular mechanism of cold stress response and tolerance in rice has been more and more studied in the last decade. In this chapter, the main progress in rice cold stress signaling pathways including the calcium sensors, MAPK pathway, ROS pathway and ICE-CBF pathway is reviewed. Besides introducing engineering rice with improved cold stress tolerance, prospective researches in this field are also discussed.
