Abstract
Extraosseous chondroma or soft tissue chondroma is a relatively uncommon benign tumour, which progresses slowly. It is frequently mistaken for a classical chondroma. It usually occurs in the hand or foot, where the recurrence rate is low. The radiological and histological features may raise fears of chondrosarcoma. We describe the case of a woman aged 44 years with a soft tissue chondroma in the right forefoot. The lesion was completely resected. She returned 5 years later with a local recurrence. A further excision was performed, and histological examination showed no features of malignancy. She has been followed for 11 months since the second resection, and there is no sign of recurrence at this early stage. To cite this journal: Med. Chir. Pied 27 (2011).
