Ethnobotanical Aspects Of Saricakaya (Eskisehir-Turkey) Villages

From ancient times people have used plants for medical purposes. Investigation of these plants led to the discovery of various modern medicines. This paper documents and evaluates traditional knowledge on medicinal plants used by the local people of Saricakaya district of Eskisehir, Turkey. 8 villages (Beykoy, Bcyyayla, Dagkuplu; Duzkoy, Guney, Kapikaya, Mayislar, igdir) and one sub-village settlement called the town (Lacin) of Saricakaya district were selected as research area. The results of the ethnobotanical study, three plant taxa are endemic. 14 species are belonging to Lamiaceae family, 5 species to Rosaceae and Apiaceae, Asteraceae and Malvaceae are represented by 4 species. while other families are represented by two or one taxa. Cupressaceae and Pinaceae are represent by one species for each. Four taxa are classified in Monocotyledonae. the other 57 species are in Dicotyledonae.
