摘要
Biochar is a carbon-rich product obtained from thermochemical degradation of biomass under inert conditions that reduce its percentage volume and increase in energy density. It is a cheap source of re mediation for non-biodegradable inorganic pollutants from aqueous solution and stable form for carbon sequestration. This article documents the environment-friendly solar-assisted production of biochar, parameter effect on yield and its quality, recent solar technologies, advantages over conventional pyrolysis, bottlenecks and its utilization for immobilization of inorganic matters from water. Temperature, heating rate, feedstock, reactor design, and catalyst are the most promising factors that effect on yield, product ratios (liquid biochar and gas) and characteristics of biochar. These characteristics have shown direct effects on the adsorption capacity of inorganic matters, but it also varied with the types of pollutants. Therefore, this review encapsulates the scattered literature about solar pyrolysis and its use in water treatment to make this process more economical and environment-friendly.
