Abstract
In order to reveal the movement and concentration characteristics of fish eggs in the fish breeding circular flume, 4 runs of experiments with varying velocity were conducted. The experimental results showed that the curved section in circular flume would lead to redistribution in vertical eggs' concentration. In straight section, the vertical eggs' concentration was monotonically increasing with depth. In curved section, the vertical concentration was first increasing with depth and reached a peak in the middle water, and then decreasing with depth. The curved channel also leaded to non-uniform in transverse eggs' concentration. The eggs' concentration was relatively large in the outer bank and relatively small in the inner bank. The velocity would further change the variation of eggs' concentration. In straight section, the eggs' concentration in the upper water was increasing with velocity, while the concentration in the bottom water was decreasing. In curved section, the eggs' concentration in the middle and upper water was also increasing with the velocity. The curved section can significantly reduce the eggs' sink rate. The increasing velocity has more effect on the reducing eggs' sink rate in straight section.
