Acute Glomerulonephritis As A Complication Of Diabetic Nephropathy

We present the case of a 65 years old woman with diabetes mellitus and hypertension who presented a picture of staphylococcal sepsis and oligoanuric acute renal failure. Due to a progressive deterioration a renal biopsy was performed. The biopsy showed diabetic glomerulosclerosis and diffuse endocapillary proliferative glomerulonephritis with subepithelial deposits and glomerular crescents in 23% of the glomeruli. A review of the literature is performed.
