Alpha(S) Measurements From Cleo
'95 QCD AND HIGH ENERGY HADRONIC INTERACTIONS(1995)
摘要
Measurements of the strong coupling constant, alpha(s), by the CLEO Collaboration are reported. The most recent measurement of alpha(s) was obtained from a simultaneous fit to R(tau), the ratio of the hadronic over the leptonic decay widths of the tau lepton, and to D-tau(kl), the spectral moments calculated from the hadronic decays of the tau. CLEO's first determination of alpha(s) from a jet rate rate analysis in the four-flavor continuum is also reviewed. Two other determinations of alpha(s) are in progress: one extracts alpha s from the number of direct photons produced in the decay of the Upsilon(1S), and the other extracts alpha(s) from the two-photon width of the eta(c). AU measurements are consistent with the 1994 Particle Data Group world average of alpha(s)(M(Z0)) = 0.117 +/- 0.005 when evolved to the Z(0) mass.
