Data Analytics Approach In Business Transformation Context

The business transformation concept emphasizes the role of modern information technologies in improving business competitiveness. In this context data analytics has raised as a priority approach due to its capacity to connect a large variety of data sources to decision making processes and to complement traditional past oriented data analysis with predictive and prescriptive solutions. Modern enterprise information architecture provides support for implementing new requirements regarding processes of data collection, transformation, loading, processing and analysis. The paper describes the current implementation status of an experimental environment which is aimed at providing necessary resources to develop data analytics applications and services in the business transformation context. These resources include the adopted data analytics methodology, the necessary competences to implement this methodology, with emphasis on big data administration and engineering, as well as on analytics techniques, and the development platform built around a relevant information architecture. The current implementation status centered on the Hadoop ecosystem components and the MATLAB Statistics toolbox is presented and two pilot projects envisaged to take benefit of this environment are mentioned.
