Abstract
In order to get a uniform analysis model for dynamic analysis of reinforced concrete (RC) structure, nonlinear dynamic finite element analysis has been carried out for RC shear wall specimens with a general model and a simplified model in DIANA, considering the nonlinear characteristics of concrete and steel. The comparisons of time histories of acceleration and displacement responses were made, which obtained from tests and finite element analysis. It can be concluded that the results obtained from general model except after maximum strength have good agreement with those of tests than those of simplified model. After maximum strength, the nonlinear behavior such cracking, damage of concrete quickly developed, it is still difficult to simulate the nonlinear behaviors of post-peak. Lastly, some suggestions on improving precision are provided.
