Influence Of Enclosure On Vegetation Productivity And Biodiversity On Xilamuren Grassland, Inner Mogolia

We carried out 8 years enclosure experiment from 2007 to 2014 on Xilamuren grassland, Inner Mongolia. The experiment plots vegetation productivity (including community height, coverage, upper ground biomass) and biodiversity were investigated. Compared with heavy grazing plot, result shows: (1) Biomass, coverage and height of enclosure plot are notably more than that of heavy grazing plot each year. (2) There were difference between the two plots, Stipa krylovii and Leymus chinesis were dominant in enclosure plot; however Aritimisia frigida, Convolvulus ammannii and Salsols collina et al. were dominant in heavy grazing plot. (3) The Shannon-Wiener biodiversity index of enclosure plot was less than that of heavy grazing plot over time. Enclosure can promote vegetation productivity, but has disadvantage on long-term biodiversity. Moderate or light grazing can inhibit plant which with strong competitive ability, promote biodiversity on grassland.
