Abstract
In order to develop a good performance composite structure, the bond behaviour between the basalt fibre reinforced plastic (BFRP) bar and the engineered cementitious composite (ECC) was experimental studied in this paper through the pullout tests. It is found that the BFRP bar has a good bond capacity with the ECC matrix, and the sufficient length to anchor the 4mm BFRP bar in ECC should be larger than 15d. On basis of the equilibrium equation of forces, the basic development length was calculated and further compared with the available models for FRP bars in concrete. The comparison shows that the models for FRP bars in concrete can also be used to calculate the basic development length of BFRP bar in ECC, whereas they are slightly conservative.
