Abstract
Unclassified tailings obtained from the Dahongshan copper mine station are used as test materials. These tailings are grouped into six different concentrations of slurry solutions (i.e., 15%, 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, and 40%). Sedimentation experiment is carried out. Results showed that the slurry concentration at 20% solids flux is maximum based on Dick's theory. Thus, 20% is considered as the best feed sand concentration. The solid flux equation fitted to the solid flux curve, that is, G(i) = 0.356xe(-15.22x2) The existence of solid flux dynamic balance on the slurry settlement from the silo is determined. The results of this study provides theoretical basis to achieve continuous sand flow. Key Words: tailings, solid flux, dynamic sedimentation, fitting equation.
