Prevalence Of Auditory Problems In Children With Speech Disorders

Introduction: In this research study we analyze the incidence of auditory problems in 58 preschool children aged 2-5 years, with Speech and Language Disorders (SLDs).Method: They were referred to our clinic by the Mental Health Center during the period January 2016 to October 2018.Results: A total of 58 children, 34 males, (58,62%) and 24 females (41,38%) were screened with otoscopy and otoacoustic emission (OAE). 27 who did not pass (46,55%) were examined with Auditory Brainstem Response (ABR).Conclusions: In these children with SLDs the otolaryngologist may contribute to the primary disorder, which can reduce the severity of the speech disorder.
