Experimental Platform for DC Grid: Design and Implementation

With the development of power electronics technology and the rise of energy internet, DC grid, as a new form of power system with high energy density, low loss, flexible control, and convenient access to renewable energy, has become a research focus. Based on the requirements of system research and equipment development, this paper designs and establishes an experimental platform for DC grid. The platform includes various types of AC/DC converters, DC/DC converters, renewable energy simulation devices, networking devices, control and protection devices, and a real-time digital simulation system based on RT -LAB, its physical structure is designed to be topological flexible and control system is designed to be automatically cooperative. The established result is suitable for system analyzing in fields such as LVDC microgrid, MVDC distribution, and HVDC transmission, and is able to perform hardware-in-loop testing on key equipment of DC grids. Design and establishment of this platform provides a strong support for theoretical and technological R&D in related fields, and is of great significance for the technical and industrial development of DC grid.
