Abstract
Surface induced dissociation of diatomic and tri-atomic hydrogen and deuterium ions upon impact on a hydrogen covered graphite surface has been investigated in the collision energy range from about 20 up to 100 eV. In this typical energy regime for fusion edge plasma conditions relative abundances of H+ and D+ fragments as a function of collision energy were measured, no di-atomic secondary product ions could be observed. As target surfaces graphite tiles from the Tokamak experiment TORE SUPRA in CEA-Cadarache/France have been used.
