Spontaneous Fission Studies Of Cf-252 With Gammasphere

The cold binary and ternary fragmentations in Cf-252 spontaneous fission were studied experimentally using Gammasphere with 72 Compton Suppressed Ge detectors. Yields are extracted from intensities of gamma-ray transitions originating from the de-excitation of secondary fragments. Ternary fragmentations involving He-4, and Be-10 are observed. The relative yields obtained for alpha-ternary by double gating on the same partner nucleus and also by setting gates on one isotope and the other gate on its partner are self consistent. The alpha-ternary/Total neutron channel ratio is similar to 0.65%.
