Current Models Of Student-Athlete Academic Support Services

Today academic support centers and programs have been designed to enhance the college experience of student-athletes. They are geared towards the retention and graduation of the students they engage, as well as outcomes that assist with student-athlete development (i.e., psychosocial well-being, identity development, career development, and relationship building). In this chapter, the authors explore the history and growth of academic support for student-athletes across divisions and conferences. They also examine the various models for resources available to student-athletes.
