In the present work, two single loop controllers are designed by Quantitative Feedback Theory control technique to keep stability and performance in the presence of parametric uncertainties in a hot rolling mill. The controllers are designed for the strip tension and looper angular position loops. Their performance is evaluated and compared against Proportional-Integral controllers as well as those that currently exist in most of the hot strip mills. Simulations are carried out by connecting the controllers as a diagonal control and tested in the 2 x 2 multivariable model of the lopper system, thus to assess the controllers' capabilities for reducing interactions as well.
