Quality Of Life Indicators Of Sustainable Transport

The sustainability concept has always been in the focus of scientific and philosophical world since Aristotle first tried to create a kind of "self-sustained household". However, sustainability has gained popularity since the 1980's and since then it is used not only in scientific discussions but also in daily life. ? Sustainable human settlements are going to preserve their importance in agenda as a vision to be reached by disciplines related with urban and regional planning. Nowadays, just like many other fields of planning, also in transport planning the sustainability concept is discussed frequently and old theories are revisited and new ones formulated.In this study it is aimed to develop the construction of a multidisciplinary conceptual framework to evaluate the quality of life in relation to well-being in the field of transport planning. Values, that serve as guiding principles in the life of a person or social entity are correlated with the quality of life indicators. A bridge among sustainable transport goals, motivational value types and quality of life indicators is constructed. The determined common points are used to define different levels of quality of life indicators for achieving sustainable transport. A multidisciplinary conceptual framework to evaluate the quality of life in relation to well-being in the field of transport planning is developed.
