Innovation is the living soul of the industrial design, the essence of innovation is the organic unity of selecting information, organizing information, breaking information, reconstructing information and so on, which ask creators to utilize the owned information. The owned information is the precondition of selection, organization, breakthrough and reconstruction, the former is diathesis, the latter is skills, no one can live without the other one. Diathesis is the creators' comprehensive knowledge and information, which is a process of accumulation, but skills is the action system which is able to achieve a certain task, and creators get it by training and practice. This is the main course for professional training at school. In our country, industrial design education is developing very rapidly recently, and a large mount of students get it, it likes a lot of plains get into the sea, however, the selection in the students' quality doesn't match the skills teaching well, so it leaves industrial design education a tremendous impact and influence in some aspects. In this paper, from the characteristics of the industrial design, the author talks about the relations between students' selection on the professional quality and talents cultivation model, advocating the thinking of "the greater capacity, the better students."
