The Fiber Anemometer Based On Fiber Gratings

A new fiber anemometer based on fiber gratings is experimentally demonstrated for simultaneously detecting the wind-speed and -direction. The two gratings separated with 90 degrees are fixed on the stainless steel pipe driven by the rotating disc for measuring the wind direction. The overlapped frequency of the sensing grating wavelength overlapped with that of the matched fiber grating is utilized for monitoring the wind speed. This fiber anemometer with a simple and durable structure can be applied in anemo-electric generators.
