Split Hyperfractionated Accelerated Radiation Therapy (Shart) And Concomitant Cisplatin For Locally Advanced Laryngeal Carcinoma

Locally advanced laryngeal carcinoma is a frequent head and neck neoplasm. Most of these patients are not candidates to radical surgery, and radiation therapy, when used alone and with classic fractionation, only achieves about 30% of local control and survival. Some cytostatics can actuate like real radiosensitizers. We have developed a combined treatment for these patients, using hyperfractionated radiotherapy, concomitant cisplatin, and, in some ocasions, surgery.
