Static, Dynamic And Ballistic Properties Of Bainite-Austenite Steel For Armours

In the paper, the properties of new bainite-austenite steel grade are presented. The investigation scope included static, dynamic and ballistics properties. The firing tests were conducted according to the NATO STANAG 4569 in order to evaluate the progress in designing steel armours. The examinations were done on plates of thickness from 3 mm to 15 mm. The investigation results allowed to optimize the final heat treatment, which is crucial for obtaining the required mechanical properties in order to ensure the highest protection level in plates of various thicknesses together with lowering the weight of armour construction.
