Paimprint Recognition Method Using Scatter Matrix And Dual-Tree Complex Wavelet Transform

Compared with the Palm line structure features, palmprint texture features extraction and description are easier. But these features extracted from low resolution online palmprint images directly are not enough to be powerful. In order to solve the problem, the paper proposed a new approach to enhance the distinguish capability of texture features for palmprint recognition. It uses scatter matrix to obtain the information of local structure of palm lines and construct a direction field of palm lines. The direction field becomes a part of the texture of the palmprint image. Finally, the dual-tree complex wavelet transform is used to extract enhanced texture features. The experimental results illustrate the effectiveness of the method.
