Abstract
In recent years nanopores technology have been widely explored for single molecular detection of biomolecules. An integration of optical modalities with ionic current signals have found to be an attractive approach to receive more accurate information about target analyte. Assimilation of plasmonic detection with electrical read out signals of solid state nanopores has configured a new approach known as Plasmonic nanopores. Optical signals will help to reveal chemical states and properties of the specific analytes inside the nanopores with potential of multiplexed detection by multi-nanopore. Plasmonic nanopores hold immense possibilities for developing efficient sensing devices and thorough investigations are needed. The proposed book chapter will provide a detailed information about the fabrication of plasmonic nanopores, their recent application in single molecule analysis and future perspective.
