摘要
IntroductionStress urinary incontinence is an involuntary loss of urine on the normal anatomical pathways, due to a large number of factors that determine the bladder and or sphincter dysfunction. Approximately 10-25% of women between 35-65 years suffer from some type of urinary incontinence, and the rate of urinary incontinence is increasing to 40% in patients over 65 years. In patients who have been diagnosed with SUI, ultrasound represents a good way of assessing the structural alterations of the pelvic floor above the levator plate and the differential diagnosis for different types of cystocele.Material and methodsWe studied the contribution of transperineal ultrasound in 66 patients hospitalized in the Bega Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Emergency County Hospital, Timisoara; the patients have been diagnosed with stress urinary incontinence. Results and discussionIn our study, the urinary incontinence is a multifactorial condition. For example, a multiparous, old woman with a chronic cough (due to chronic bronchitis or smoking) has developed faster this condition. Physiological conditions or circumstances which increase the risk of developing stress urinary incontinence included: pregnancy and natural birth; medical history of hysterectomy, obesity or overweight and recurrent urinary tract infections.ConclusionsUrinary incontinence causes health problems and social problems. Surgical treatment for stress urinary incontinence represents an option for treatment.
